Choose your trip in Rwanda
How to choose your Rwanda trip?
Trip duration is key. In 6 to 8 days, you focus on the Virunga and a stop at Kivu or Akagera. Over a 8 to 12 day format, you combine gorillas, Nyungwe chimpanzees, Lake Kivu and safari at Akagera—in our view, the most balanced package. For a 13 to 17 day stay, we often add an extension to Uganda (Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth) or a deeper exploration of Kivu by kayak and bike.
Your choice also depends on permit availability: the 96 daily gorilla permits go quickly in high season, and we secure them as soon as your trip is confirmed.
Our different trip types
Our cultural circuits focus on memory (Gisozi Memorial, Kigali Camp), Akagera basket-weaving cooperatives and Iby'Iwacu traditional villages. Our adventure itineraries include gorilla tracking, climbing Mount Bisoke (3,711 m) in a single day, the Congo-Nile Trail by bike or kayak on Kivu, and canopy treks in Nyungwe.
Family formats are also available, from age 15 for gorilla permits, balancing Akagera safaris, Lake Kivu swimming and Kigali discovery.
What's the best season?
Two windows stand out. The long dry season, June to mid-September, remains the most popular: drier trails in the Virunga, temperatures of 12–25°C depending on altitude, clear skies over Kivu. The short dry season, mid-December to February, offers similar conditions with fewer people competing for permits.
March to May rains don't prevent travel—vegetation is lush and rates are lower—but Akagera tracks become muddy. October to November remains feasible, with short showers in late afternoon.
